Stacked Tower

The first piece of the year was a revision piece. The word I drew for my revision piece was repeat, which is defined by the dictionary as to do (something) again, either once or a number of times. Having this in mind I thought of making a tower of three oval shaped pots that can be removed. I decided to revise a handle that I created last year in Ceramics since I liked the design but wanted to further explore the size of them. To make this piece I used 55 stoneware clay, a wooden spoon, and two tips of ribbed tools. I was inspired by a Canadian artist named Pascale Girardin as she has created stackable pieces consisting of different shapes and sizes. The towers I created display how a simple idea of a pot can be further expanded upon to create something both functional while also being innovative.
